Celestial swirls, I mean celestial squares.

I finished!

For some reason I cannot get the pictures to accurately show how cute these squares are.

I'd bought this remnant but if course had no idea what to do with it.

I liked the tie dye/swirly effect on the fabric.

Swirls of metallic are on the front side.

And look what happened with the border:

Looks like a cat!

I thought it was cute.

My little charm pack of squares found their forever home yesterday!

First we started with this...a. Chain of charming blocks!

Then it started to look like this....

A little bit bigger now!  

Every other block has metallic accents, can you see them?

And finally, we have a finished flimsy.

I think I'll have time to play with the quilting today.

Blueman wishes I'd made a full blanket for him!

January homework

so I'm following along (quite informally) a color a month quilting square challenge.
January is red. So I bought a couple small fat quarters to add to my stash and found I had more than I remembered that I had!

It was all too much for the baby. He had to rest.

So finishing up my first rainbow goal, I have the rest of the month to sew the celestial, universe inspired squares. Can't wait!

Sunday slowdown (another tree post)

I hadn't been actively searching for trees lately.
But this regal little guy grabbed my attention.
The tallest of his little group, he was still only 4-5 feet tall.
I thought if him as a welcoming beacon.

I'm here, I'm tufted and fluffed, welcome to our little plot!

This little guy was a unique color hidden in the shade of a bigger tree.

New project

during a hellishly long night drenched with insomnia, I considered the layout for the cute little charm pack I bought.

I like the celestial feel to the fabrics.

Bloggus interruptus

it wasn't anything serious.
I wasn't learning the finer points of parkour
Nor was I practicing Krav Maga moves.
I was folding a fitted sheet when it happened.
A lightning band of pain around the middle of my back.
I'd thrown my back out lifting a fitted sheet.
Made of cotton, not tungsten.

So.
No blog post today.

Goals

now is the time of year, which I think probably ties with a major birthday, that folks consider making new goals, new resolutions, or just overwhelming changes to their every day existence.

I have household goals, craft goals and personal goals.

Craft goals are as follows:
Finish the cello cross stitch. (Updated pics coming, I promise!)
      No new cross stitch project until this is done. I have another one up on deck, a Christmas present

Work on Bluemans big quilt. This one will be professionally quilted. No eta, no pressure.
Going to follow the color a month quilt challenge. I'd like to make three or four squares each month. I think I can manage that!
I have some squares coming in March from my mil. I may not complete a project with them this year.
       But I can still dream!

Will finish the peach knit prayer shawl.
Would like to finish the lavender stripe knit.

Will finish the crocheted rainbow oh's.
Would like to finish the peacock shawl, also crochet.

Have two bags I'm working on. Will finish those. Small bags made out of leftover specialty yarn is easy and takes an afternoon, if crocheted.

All yarn items are in process. The bags are nearly complete.

Would like to finish twelve projects. Will keep track of the UFO's.

And....this came home today for inspiration.

I really don't know what I'd do without them.

They bring comfort in stressful times.

They make me laugh, they drive me crazy, they teach me about love.

Okay so this picture was taken when he was begging for my cereal's milk.

But he's still my baby!
