Fun things while walking

I don’t normally take my phone on my morning walks. For one thing, I don’t normally have pockets and my fear that I’ll catch my hand on my leg sending the phone flying is a real fear. Sidewalks are hard y’all!

One day I did give in and took a slew of pictures. I was going to create a story and illustrate with my pictures but alas, it will not be so.

The point of this picture is under the table.

You walk up a slope to this area and it looked like a bird crashed first and left a splat mark!
The I decided that it was a baby dementor!

This is down from my house. A big black spot.
It’s like a team of dementors got drunk and smacked into the tree.
The idea makes me giggle!

I’m guessing these are roots where the dirt has been washed away.
(It’s on a slight incline)
Then I decided it was like tree varicose veins!
I did mention these are my early morning walks, right?
So I might not be the most clear thinking!

This is a sea of rock

While this is a pond of rock!

So that’s what I see when I walk.
Here’s hoping you see interesting things too.

Wouldn’t you just know it?

Months and months ago, I made a little blanket for the boys to lay on. The like to lay on my projects, my papers, my clothes, everything.

This was made with scraps of yarn too small to use for anything else. I thought perhaps I’d cover the cushions and give them something textured to lay on.

Those little boogers rolled the mat up and curled up directly on the cushion!
Stinkers!
But they sure are cute when they are sleeping!

Here’s hoping you find a fun place to nap today!

Flora and fauna

Okay so there will be no fauna, but to say flora only sound just incomplete!  The next few posts are pictures taken on one of my morning walks.  I think about all kinds of things and sometimes I get pretty whimsical.

This post is just pictures of plants I find interesting.

These beautiful red flowers have such a fluffy look about them.
I snapped this pic while walking in front of someone’s house.
I hope no one wondered what I was doing!

I have always liked the little fingers on the prickly pear.
It makes me think they are waving at me!

I’m sure this big red guy is very well behaved and trimmed on the inside of the wall
of this persons yard. But on the outside,
I pictured him reaching down his hand to play tickle with the bush below him.

This guy looks like he’s got a serious case of bed head.
Smooth in the front and sticking up in the back.

Here’s hoping you find something interesting outside today!

A sign of the times

I finally took my phone with me on my walk and snapped a few pictures to illustrate some of the random thoughts I have that keep me entertained while walking.  These pictures tell a less entertaining tale, I’m afraid.

The jungle gym (do they even call them that anymore?)
I’ve seen this sign from the sidewalk and while the stop sign symbol is clear on the intent,
I wanted a close up look at it.
I found myself feeling a little guilty to just be in the play area.
Like perhaps the covid police would come and take me away?

This is the second time I’ve seen this.

On the way to visit the maternal unit last week, I had seen a pair of clear gloves discarded in the street. I never thought I’d long for the day where there was average fast food waste littering the ground. This just seems creepy and unsafe.

Here’s hoping you stay safe today!

The dog ate my homework

My “office” is the guest room, so the furry children and I share it sometimes during the day. Mostly they use it for sleeping while I’m using it for slaving away!

I happened to open the mail in there after my walk the other morning. I just left it on the bed to move a little later on my break.  I should have known better!

It started with taking ownership

Then it went full on sleeping mode!

Later after he left the room, I rescued the mail
and replaced it with a worksheet I was going to throw away when I’d finished with it.

Apparently that worksheet needed to be put in its place.
So Puff let that paper have it.
He showed it who was boss.

So, the ‘dog’ ate my homework.
Well, at least chewed it up a little!

Here’s hoping you take a bite out of something today!

Finally cooking

After weeks of half heartedly cooking, I finally decided to bake a little something.
Okay so I’m too lazy to make my own pie crust!
And deep dish was all I could find.
So I chopped some ham into bits.

Chopped some broccoli

Whipped some eggs

Voila! Breakfast for under 500 calories a serving!

I made two of the gorgeous beauties so that should last a little bit.
Plus it used some surplus eggs!

Here’s hoping you’ve got something cookin’ today!

Quarantine...everything

Quarantine hair. I am far past the age of pig tails, but one morning before my walk, I decided to braid my hair into two. They weren’t even, but it was off my face. And I couldn’t slouch while walking or they wouldn’t stay back over my shoulder! What a good posture test!

Quarantine food. Pantry staple rice (boil in bag), black beans, freezer contribution mild Italian sausage and leftover cups of pizza sauce from breadstick delivery. The breadsticks were gone but we had more sauce!  So, quarantine  food! It was quite the yum!

And lest I think I’m the only one who takes sleeping pictures of my kids,
my bestie from back eastie sent me this pic of her furry baby!

Hope you’re finding things to amuse yourself during this quarantine!

Nothing to see here

I had set a goal again this year to finish a project a month. Some of my projects are labor intensive and what with work, chores and my reading goal, it takes a bit of energy to finish a craft project.
This month, there is no finish. I’ve started walking, I’ve started journaling and a card writing campaign and I’m now working from home.  So I’m not killing myself to finish things. I’m still working on them.  You have to do something when you’re waiting to remote in on the work front.

I’m a skein away from a finish. So probably this week.

The whole point of this is to have goals. They push you through obstacles (or around them if necessary) and goals give you a sense of purpose. But they aren’t written in stone nor are they a reason to cause more stress. So I’ll finish my shawl and I’ll do some knitting everyday. But before it’s finished to give someone in comfort, it’s a comfort to me to make and I’ll enjoy it as long as it takes.

I think yesterday was the first day it hit me how serious this all is. I’ve been sequestered, much like a staycation. My work is considered essential and so my coworkers are going to work everyday. I have not. I rarely drive but I had to take paperwork into the office yesterday. Weeds are growing in places because weeds apparently aren’t a priority now. Restaurants with no drive thru have big signs saying “open” hoping you’ll place an order to take out. One business wasn’t working Saturday overtime like I’m used to seeing. It’s very odd. So two weeks into it and it seems real for the first time.

Perhaps there was a reason that my comfort shawl isn’t finished yet.

Here’s hoping you find the comfort you need today.

Nature pics

I've been walking more and more and last weekend I walked down to see the maternal unit.  One must get our daily outside air!  It's not far and I really don't know why I don't do it more often.  I'll likely be doing it for the near future at least until it's unbearably hot.  That might just be in two weeks!  Once in her complex, I decided to get some nature shots.  It's difficult to see but mama was taking her three baby birds for a swim in the pond.

Mama and babies aren't worried about social distancing!

This bird was safe on a rock while trying to decide whether to take a dip.

Okay, this is a different kind of nature.
Turns out it wasn't "forbidden" after all.
Normal romance story.

Here's hoping you find something "natural" about your day!
