Turquoise triangles are done! Yes that was for April...

I'm blaming the great intestinal flu of 2019 for being behind on my rainbow challenge squares.
But with my recently polished sword of perseverence, I am fighting on.

I finished the turquoise squares which I wanted to be done in triangles. Triangles can be frustrating. Then after I was done, I realized that I didn't get a lot if contrast in one square. Oh well, we call this a learning process.

Upper right corner, with very little contrast.
Bottom right was leftover from my code talker quilt of valor.
I love pulling one quilt into another one-paying it forward, as it were.

Coming up...orange!

With maybe some orange kitties?!

It was nice to focus on crafty things this weekend since work stuff has made the days feel like living in the toilet.

Here's hoping you find a fun distraction from your stressors today!

silly cat stuff

So Wink jumps up here when his brother goes nutty and chases him through the house.
I snapped a quick pick.

Then he turned into the corner where the voices apparently called to him because he began talking. And talking.
And talking.

Meanwhile, his brother walked over to the bookcase and just pulled books out
(which he had heretofore never touched)
And then apparently after marking that off his bucket list, he left.
I had a lap full of the good n plenty project and no camera of the actual act but I am an eyewitness!

Meanwhile, this guy just likes to chill on the top of my chair.

Here's hoping you witness something funny/silly/catlike today!

Good n plenty is good n done!

i had a routine. Get up early, eschew household chores, listen to a podcast and crochet.
Perseverence was the key. Because (I hear drum rolls but it could be the voices in my head again)
I finished the good n plenty afghan! Woo hoo!

Seriously people, I moved this from at least one house. I don't think it got moved twice. I don't think.
I'm going with it was born in Indiana and became finished here. And best of all, one more project is off the UFO list. *snoopy dance of joy*

I received many compliments on the color palette
It was fun to finish but pretty labor intensive so I'm not sure I'll do one of these again for awhile.

The is next  project on the list I think.
"Flowers in the field."
It looks halfway done but we'll see how many 'flowers' are in the bag.

I'm going to have to find a hook.
My biggest failing in these ufo's is that I leave the partial project and take the hook.
And I don't leave instructions on size of hook.
Because I'm short sighted, apparently!

Here's hoping you keep your sights on the finish.

Status update good-n-plenty

I managed to do quite a bit of crocheting and since I finished the white, I thought I'd take a status pic to post.

So I laid eyes it out and it's pretty but I felt it would look better if it were diagonally on the sofa.

But!
The local investigative reporter had to check things out.

Perhaps next picture at completion will be a good one.
Here's hoping you find a fun way to look at things differently!

Unexpected beauty

SD2 and her beau came to visit with a furry family member. The boys were so not interested in the furry addition and so stayed hidden.

The trip was way too short but what can you do? Jobs get in the way of our social time sometimes.

I was left with this little beauty of a watercolor painting.  I absolutely love this and am awed by talent that makes this look so easy.

I think the reason I work in fiber (yarn, fabric, floss) is that I have learned to maneuver it into the form or shape or design that fits what I see in my head. Even in abstract form, I struggle to make pen, pencil, or paint resemble the images I want to see!

I'm reading a book on burnout and I had to take a bit of some words to remember.
"...along with creative self expression - writing, drawing, singing...."
So, blogging, crocheting...sounds like I'm on the right track to help with my stressors and workplace drama. Who knew I was already doing something right?!

Here's hoping you find ways to de-stress today.

Funny thing happened on the way to get ice cream...

so, the other day I had...chose to go fetch some treats from our fave Sonic location.  I noticed my temperature gauge while I was at a stoplight.

I was facing west and thought, wow! It's hot!

I turned left and headed south.  Then I looked down. It was suddenly hotter.
Heading north it was an even different temperature!
How funny!

Almost as funny as unicorn dream cotton candy.

Or do you 'want s'more' things to make you smile?

Here's hoping you find something interesting today!

A little July finish

The Fourth of July was a lazy non working day. An easy lunch out and a bot of stitching to get things done were the only things on the agenda until evening when I started on laundry to at least feel somewhat productive.

Last week a coworker had blessed me with a little needlepoint project. It's small and doesn't take much lap space away from the boys so it seemed like a win win. I also wasn't taking any time away from my push to finish my yarn ufo's.

It needs a few more sprinkles but French knots continue to elude me.
So 'technically' this is my July finish but I'm not going to cease pushing the good n plenty afghan.
I still want it done.

It appears that the more I get done, the more I want to do.  I managed to de clutter the dining table which of course wasn't hard but just never seemed to get done. The donations were delivered so that helped, too. We still have some problem areas but I'm managing to maintain the closet de clutter.

So right above the ships you see a slight shadow.
It looks like a smirky smile.
Then with the recessed lights, you have eyes.
So my ceiling is smiling at me.

Here's hoping you find fun smiles in unexpected places.
