This week in photos

This is a sign of the times.
One must find humor where you can.

Griffin has been enjoying some empty boxes around the house.
It's funny. Little or small, he is not picky!

Shoe boxes are fair game to him!

Here's hoping you find some place fun to spend your time!

The work begins... The gray and white quilt saga

So, the gray and white quilt blocks are on the design wall.  I started with the squares that needed the most work first.  I even thought to myself, really, how hard can it be?

I love how this looks like a black and white picture!

So the diagonal is on the line.  But look how the white triangle is askew.

This one wasn't so bad but was still quite off. So all nine squares were cut down and will require borders of some kind. But at least it's on the way!
And it's been fun to contemplate designs and ideas.

Here's hoping you find a project you can leave your mark on!

my corona covid19 project

So I was thinking about the fact that I'm trying to walk everyday. Working from home it will be easy to find my steps and exercise diminishing.  So I'm walking outside more. And each day I walk past the mailbox. So...mailbox...walking... And an idea was born.

I pulled out my beautiful box of cards.

I have several in very pretty colors and designs.
They are blank inside so I can write whatever I like!

Add a fun sticker and it's nearly ready.

So I decided to write a card a day, drop it off on my walk and send it to a friend or family member while I practice social distancing. If it involves a little happiness through the mail, all the better!
Who doesn't like to get mail especially with a fun little sticker!

Here's hoping you get some fun mail or create a new activity today!

Fitness journey #4

So we start this post with the obligatory food picture.
I'm quite enamoured of mini meat loaves.
I bet I could come up with a black bean/quinoa version if I thought about it!

A dozen of these mixed with broccoli and potatoes made a pretty meal!

On my morning walk, I brought back this!
My tennis shoes arrived! (I don't play tennis)
It made a nice little twist to my morning walk.

I've never had shoes fit so nicely right out of the box.
And my bargain loving heart enjoys the fact that they were on clearance!
That makes losing weight more fun and this was my gift to me.

Here's hoping you find something fun to gift yourself with today!

The new normal

Today is my first day working from home. Self quarantining to help not bring any virus home to blueman or the maternal unit.
So with a little quick remodel of the guest room, I have a separate place to work.

Since this picture was taken, I have added a trash bag, a mouse pad and my mouse which I'd robot ten that I'd brought from work.  I have permission to bring home a monitor and even my docking station.

If I turn in my office chair, this is the sight I see.
All three boys kept me company at some point today.

As it turns out, I may only have saved my coworkers instead if Blueman.
I have developed a little bit of a fever tonight.  Blueman had a cold/sinus thing a couple of days ago so I'm hoping that's all I have.

Here's hoping all of you stay healthy.

Free time

What's a girl to do when she has a day off to troop around a thrift store? Or stores as it were?
She takes a picture of a coffee travel mug that seemed to suit her.

This was funny to me!

After a busy day of wandering, one must have sustenance!
Sweet and spicy taco salad.

Then there was some reading happening.

All in all a good day!
Here's hoping you find fun things to do today.

This week in photos

Saw this for sale in the books store.
I have three furry children and I dare anyone to put them in these yarn 'creations'
I'm guessing the dresser on these shoots is sporting a scratch or two.

Always exercise with a partner!
I had a furry friend yesterday!

I'm finally starting this series after having unknowingly read one in the middle.
I especially like trying my hand at the French names!

Here's hoping you find photo worthy moments this week!

Design wall drama

I put the gray and white squares on the design wall.  Some feel neither gray nor white.
They were supposed to be 12" square. As you will see in the picture, some are off a bit and some are way off.  (These were collected from my mil's guild members)

Can you see the square that is a wee bit oversize?!
And which square missed "white" by a few shades!

These are my connecting fabrics.
I've got some ideas on what to do as 'filler' to connect these squares.
I just don't want to make this a long difficult process.

You can't see the sparkle here but it's metallic polka dot.
I may make a sparkly border.

Here's hoping you find sparkly challenges of your own today!

Officially a flimsy!

It took longer to miter border corners than it took to sew up these fun pieces from the design wall.
It's officially a flimsy!

This was made from a jelly roll of black/white/metallics
And yellows from my stash.
I'm having a love-hate relationship with jelly rolls. This is my third quilt.
All of them have had cutting issues. Fabrics not cut evenly and pattern issues.
But.. I can't pass up a clearance jelly roll!
My favorite part? Very little to go back in the stash! I'm not looking to grow my stable of fabrics. I like the 'just enough' type of treasury!

Here's hoping your treasury brings you happiness!

Fitness journey #3

Obsession.
an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person's mind.

Since the goal is to not mindlessly eat anymore, I have to figure things out. Opting for healthier snack options helped in the beginning but now we are getting into the more difficult inroads of obesity. Why feel you need to fill your mouth when you get stressed? I'm still working on the answer to that question but in the meantime, I have developed some minor obsessions.

This is my new Fitbit. The other one didn't fit my wrist too well.
So this tells time and counts steps and watches my hear rate.
I confess to checking my steps a little too often and putting it in FIRST thing in the morning.
I even found I was carrying things in my right hand to leave my left one free to swing (and count steps).
The last few days I've been a little less obsessed with how many steps it is from the bathroom and back.  I'll just stick to trying to move a little more than I was two months ago.

This little bugger.
Obviously it's a scale and I realized I was letting it control my emotions.
If it was noticing my water weight, I was sad.
If I had kept to my eating plan, it showed me a 'nice' number.
I now only visit this little friend every ten days to two weeks.
We get along much better that way.

Along with logging my food which I've done for over 60 days in a row,
I'm reading labels.
Some just simple stymy me.
1serving is one slice and 60 calories per serving.
2 slices is 130 calories?
Now, I'm not a math genius but something doesn't feel right!

Here's hoping today is the day that everything adds up for you!
