creature of habit, yes, that's me!

I recently decided it was time to upgrade my prescription sunglasses. I wasn't going to fall into the same old habits though. I was going to go with something different.  Not like all those other times that I ended up walking away with my new pair of glasses that looked like....yes, my last pair of glasses.

Last two years version

New version, look familiar?!

Okay, so they are a little different...but mostly the same.
Creature of habit, yeah?

Loved this shirt.

Didn't realize that the next year I bought another one that was remarkably similar!

Here's hoping you enjoy whatever duplicates in your life!

Good n plenty... Hopefully a July finish in the making

so, since I finished June's red white and green afghan a bit early, I jumped onto the next one.
I call it good and plenty because that's what I'm reminded of, that candy box. Purple and white and black lettering.

I keep it stored in my desk drawer and I work on it during my lunches. I think if I take it to my group a time or two, then I can finish it.  I'm quite enjoying my finishes this year so far. I've only wanted to start a new project a few times.  I'm hoping to get back into sewing. It's not as portable and my opportunities are more limited. Ah well, all in due time.

Impromptu pic with help from my coworker
I'm thinking two more rows and that will be good...and plenty!

Here's hoping you find yourself in a sweet spot!

Weekend...slow and easy

I left work a little early and had a night date night (at home) with Blueman. Double feature his choice.  Saturday saw a trip to the local library. Luckily the maternal unit likes what I read so she can get my books when I'm done with them. Then this morning saw me baking in preparation for this week.  I'm going to work on a pot of soup later and plot some craft projects.

It's been a relaxing weekend even though chores and errands were slipped in.
Oh, if only more days were like this one.

Yummy books!

Start with this...

Add this....

Bake and voila!
This should help us manage breakfasts this week.

A friend sent this from a convention center where she's...convening!
This would be very fun to make. Definitely goes in the "future projects" file.

Here's hoping you have fun making plans!

While driving...

I've taken to noticing what folks put on their cars. If I get a chance while stopped at a red light, I whip out my phone.
A funny..

A what?.

Patriotic

Political?

Not the Hogwarts house I'd have chosen..

But Ursula probably would have been from that house!

Here's hoping you notice something new on your commute!

Hangin with my homies...and a June finish!

yesterday was our bi monthly stitch group. You can literally bring anything stitch related!
Yesterday we had three knitters and three crocheters. I knew last week that I was getting close to the red white and green finish. I couldn't finish it while meeting with the ladies, so I finished it after a brief detour to see a friend for a belated birthday.

It looks blobby and undefined in this pic, but the afghan is done.
I'll take it to work for show and tell.

Taco salad. That bowl is as yummy as the contents.

Shared nachos with my friend. Dee-lightful.

Here's hoping you have something yummy to share with a friend!

Bureau of cross stitch magic

So, in the interest of QUICK organization, I wanted to get rid of two boxes that had been storing the cross stitch gifts from my MIL. So I bought a little three drawer plastic container. It won't last forever but until I can decide on whether I want this stuff long term or whether I want to focus more on this craft, this will do.

Pretty innocuous little storage unit, right?

Perfect size for this particular need

Projects to choose from in the top shelf. Some she had started, some brand new.
One of mine (a Christmas gift from my bestie) is here too.

Random supplies and patterns.
You need four ways to cross stitch the alphabet?
I have it!

The bottom drawer is floss.  Floss.
Oh wait more floss.

Here's hoping you find a place for your favorite things!

Organizing, forced and otherwise

With the threat of a possible visitor or two, some house chores must be completed. To that end, I decided to organize some things. Tacky un-lidded (that's clunky huh?!) cardboard boxes needed to make way for some sturdier housing.

It started with this:
Honestly I had forgotten I'd ordered these.

This was one of the extravagant buys.

It's actually a scrapbook organizer but I'm going to use it for in process quilt projects.
I don't intend to have that many projects going at the same time but it's heartening to know I have a place for these pieces and parts.

Here's hoping the thrill of organizing hits you today!

Marching along with my March squares

finally!
March's color was green...I think. I have it written down at work. Green squares are done. Woot!
I had a dry sewing spell with being ill during the actual end of month in March and so spent April trying to get back on track and focusing more on yarn works.

Since these four squares are my own deadline and no one else's, I didn't sweat it too much on the finish. April's color is aqua so while on vacation I popped into my local quilt store and picked up a few to add to my woeful stash. If you want blue, I got a ton! Aqua, not so much! I've started cutting on the Aqua and I think turquoise triangles are the way to go!

I'm also excited for may's oranges too. I have some cool orange pieces!
If I can get caught up with the colors, I'm going to try and get back to the yellow/metallic quilt. So many projects, so little time!

I wanted to make some 'normal' squares and trim them at an angle.
Just to show that I'm not normal.
Who thinks that anyway?!

Turquoise (Aqua) triangles.in the cutting zone.
I can't wait until my next sewing day.

Here's hoping you get a little of what you like today.

Some stitchin has been a goin on

i started a project on a plane ride last October. Upon arriving home it slipped into the UFO pile. I picked it up to go to the emergency room, the decided to take it yo crochet group. The biggest increase in completion came when we sat for three hours (give or take 15 minutes) at the auto dealership getting new tires on Bluemans truck.

I'm four skeins into this holiday beauty. Another two might finish it. I sure hope it will be done by for my June finish. I have 27 more days. That's half a skein every five days. Oh my!

It will be a lap robe if it's short or an afghan if it's longer!
I just needed to document the progress with a picture.

Here's hoping you see progress in what you do.

Progress of a sort

I am sad for the end of my stay cation and I'm sad that my list was not completed. I did do a lot.
Today was progress on Windows. Not all have transitioned but a few have.

Living room done a few days ago.

Kitchen before...

A little furry inspector at the "during"...

And the after!

And this one just took a break!

Work starts tomorrow and hopefully I won't be looking for a box to chill out in!
Here's hoping you find a moment to chill!

Dwindling, like sands in an hourglass

Do younger people even know what an hourglass is? Funny how I'm in that state of mind especially after yesterday's outing.   Blueman and I visited a local antique mall yesterday. I can handle them in small doses.  Too much of anything in a tiny space will make me a little dizzy and overwhelmed. Luckily it wasn't terribly huge.

Some things we saw I remember from my childhood. Some other things were just odd.  The interesting thing by far were the visitors. The majority were couples and a lot were older than Blueman and me.  Maybe they were tickled by memories, too.

I need to change my thinking this weekend. Instead of looking at this idyllic time coming to an end, I need to figure out how I can move my relaxed state into work with me.  Is such a thing possible?!

In the meantime, here is this:

So true sometimes!

This was quite unexpected.
I wonder how many people would do a double take!

Here's hoping you find some funny in your day.
