Snippets of wisdom

I like my calendar pictures. There are comments and quotes that speak to me. I was blessed to get the same calendar from two different folks so I shared one with a friend.

Sometimes it's just silly.

Sometimes it's just true.

Sometimes I just like them.
And surrounded by books? That's my nirvana!

Enjoy your day!

And more like Christmas

Seemingly between one day and the next, the neighborhood lit up.
You work late and this is your view coming home.
Pretty.

Then for the first time, we are lit up also.

I'm still a child inside and I like driving around looking at lights.
Some folks wait til late so a week before Christmas is a good time to go.

Get lit, y'all!
Oh wait! I think that means something else!
Ha ha!

It's beginning to look a bit like Christmas....

This morning as I pull out of the garage, this was looking at me across the street.  Frosty bid me a fond good day, which I must admit made me smile!

Hello inflatable friends!

The view inside was much different.

Christmas decorations sort of "appeared" in the living room.

Batteries need to be replaced as Blueman likes lights, bells and whistles!
Will this be the year for a tree?
Mmmm, who knows?!
Happy decorating.

So close you can baste it...

The second craft thing I am working on for Blueman is coming along.  If the cello finishes first, then I get another week to finish the tv watching quilt.

A little bit...

Added to a little bit....

Becomes a little more!
I stared at this for quite some time trying to figure out what was wrong,
Then I decided, it was upside down. I was pooped and didn't want to rehang it just for a picture.
I need to fix one small thing and add borders.
And then quilt it.
And then bind it.
And wash it.

Monday Stitchin' update

so it's coming along....
Last week was a hint of the left side of the cello.

Now more of it is getting filled in.

The first deadline is the 13th of December. That means 16 more days...
Can I make it?
Secondary deadline is 1 week after that.
How do the elves do it with all this pressure?!

Happy stitching

Trees a continuing story.

If you look closer at the lower half, you'll see a bend in the tall trees.
Like a slight bend in the elbow!

Ignore the foreground tree. The one behind started as one base.
Then the went their separate ways!

This is suffering the same fate.
The I'll hang with you but...not too close!

Hope you take a look around at the nature around you!

Daytrippin

Been meaning to try steel cut oats since I had them on the plane. Added raisins (the concept if which freaks Blueman out!) and a sprinkle of brown sugar. Not bad. Next time will use nuts, too

Went on a jaunt to check out a new neighborhood.
Passed the stadium which just changed their name not too long ago.
Sponsorship changes things.

Watch out! Golf cart crossing ahead.

And here's the crossing!

A quick stop at a cafe for lunch and we were back on our way.

Was fun to have a day-date with Blueman.
Even more fun to have slept in, done a couple of chores beforehand and still home in time to have a chill moment.
Holidays are cool.

What's on the radio...

Fun group names

I hummed this today

Not what you think, but a good song

I like the song called "Fear is a liar" by this artist.

The other day I was sewing and listening to Sirius radio....
I heard a line I liked.
"Yesterday is a closed door.
You don't live there anymore."

Don't live in the past. Good advice any day.
Hope you find a good song in your heart today!

Thanksgiving and giving thanks.

We had our second annual dinner out for thanksgiving. Quite a delightful meal.

I declined the iceberg wedge in favor of the mixed greens salad.  It stood tall and had tri colored tomatoes, a duo of pepper strips and peeled celery and carrots.

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and roasted peppers/green bean "garnish".
Fresh sourdough bread with whipped butter.

Notice how most dishes are half eaten?
I kept forgetting to get the picture until I started eating.
This was cheesecake with pumpkin drizzle.

Blueman doesn't like cheesecake so he substituted Billy Meyer pie (or something like that)
It was Oreo crust, ice cream something and toasted almonds.
I tasted his and it was lovely as well.

All in all a delightful meal.
I'm thankful for friends, family, and the ability to afford a nice meal out.
I am also thankful for time off work.
And naps.
And furry critters that like to cuddle and nap with you.

Happy thanksgiving.

Little bags

Leftover yarn can be a bummer. Not enough to make much.
When a friend gave me some random bits, the challenge was on!

This is three remnants!

This lovely got a light blue handle.

And remember, those came from this:

$2 bag of random yarn.

And an oldie but a goodie!
I lined this cross the body bag with stretchy fabric.
I feared I would just have to donate these to the thrift store.
But!
I took these to work and a coworker wants all for her nieces. Woot!

Stitching update

I started filling in the cello a little more Monday.  I'll take it to stitching group this weekend and see if we can't nudge this along here. Christmas is a comin' and I'd like to have a finished project.

Last week we were here...

This week we are a bit further.  Still taking about three hours each week to do this much!

You can see chair legs and I just love the shadows.
They look so much cooler in pictures than hovering over the project.

I've fussed over this but I have really enjoyed seeing the picture reveal itself.
I bet the grand piano one is easier because it's mostly black or dark shades.
That might be Christmas 2020... Or 2025!

Sewing for the holidays.

While on vacation, my bestie found a jelly roll so I could quickly come home and make a blanket for Blueman. I've been messing around with it and while it's not exactly what I thought, it's coming along. I'm 3/4 of the way done.

I'm expecting it to look better once all pieces are together.
This picture does show some of the fun fabrics.

Globes, maps, planes, in a manly color way!

You can tell I was working! My shirt does not lie!

This will be Christmas gift for Blueman. He has three gift occasions in December.
Birthday, anniversary and Christmas.
Whew!

Slow down Sunday.

yesterday I tried to snap a good picture. Alas a dirty windshield, a slight glare, and fear of traffic ruined my funny pic.
The tree on the right looked like it was outfitted in a hula skirt.
Its neighbor on the left was swaying with the beat too.

The day was not all funny as I sustained an injury while shopping.

Part of my nail did not survive the outing.
He was mourned by his 8 siblings.
Sadly, my thumbnail was lost in an emery board incident last week.

There was much mourning....
One couldn't even face me....

The other two were overcome by emotion and so wore out early...

Hope your Sunday was nice and slow.

Goody bags

Step 1 - start with fabric.

Step 2 - cut fabric into rectangles

Step 3 - sew up the edges to make a bag.

Step 4 - insert drawstring and fun little drawstring hoobie!

Step 5 - fill bag with fun, lovely or silly things!  I have some candies set aside.....but I might be on the hunt for some fun stuff.

What do you do with a little bit of specialty yarn?

One of the bazaar finds was a pretty black yarn with a shiny thread woven around it. Less than a skein. What to do???

The little skein to the left. Size 10 knitting needles.

Make a long strip of knitted stitches. Decreases on one end with a loop for a button.

,

Fold over and sew up the edges to make a little bag.

Add a button and you have it. Tissue placed under the edge to show better detail.
Three hours and forty cents.
Not bad!
