One step forward...is still one step

I had hopes that I'd be able to get the blocks trimmed and a layout chose this weekend. And I assumed that I'd get some sewing done.

Saturday I found a few blocks were sewn with a seam allowance that messed up my size. No biggie, it's just a few, and I could easily fix those. Maybe six? Eight?  I was embarrassed to consider it was twelve. I'd only sewn 48 so twelve was a bigger percentage of incorrectness. Oh well, speed kills, even in sewing, apparently.

So today I put back together that which was torn asunder! And, umm. It wasn't twelve. It was 17!
A third! Wow.

I decided I needed a nap and then I'd get to sewing.

Don't drive drunk....and don't sew sleepy!

This is what it should have looked like....

But I found this fun fabric for backing. It's lighter than its photographed.

The jelly roll is black gray and silver so I think it will match fine!

I couldn't resist some fun fabrics..

And I have plans for these little beauties!
The yellows were from the remnant bin and half off.
Good use for my overtime pay!

I have four days to finish my project for the month. I'll post that crocheted handbag next time.
Hoping you finish your projects in the time you hoped to.

Week in review

so, lots of things happened and yet nothing terribly post worthy except for the following:

So it was the beg overpriced flower day.
They are quite gorgeous for certain. And my coworkers enjoyed them, too!

While picking up Bluemans cousin who was visiting from out of town, I noticed this little beauty above the doors. I bet no one looks up. What a shame.
This metal art is a hidden treasure.

These were cut up last week and I was so excited to sew them up yesterday.

Sadly, I am not enamoured of the end result.
I think it's the color pop I don't care for.
Bummer.
My mil thinks she has a solution for saving them.
Otherwise my seam ripping abilities will be honed.

Hope your week went well and all your problems easily solved.

Shopping + books= happy

so there is a yearly book sale nearly 45 minutes from me. I enjoy it especially now that I'm shopping for the maternal unit. She reads voraciously and low price books are a dream!

This was the first year I went to pre-shop with a friend who was a member. It's like free time in a book store where everything is 75% off. Yum-my!

I netted 29 books for us on pre-shop day.

1/2 price Sunday when blueman and I went back, I netted 13 more.

We had a yummy pasta dinner after perusing the books.
Book shopping + Italian food = best way to end a weekend!

February homework

So February's color is yellow. I don't have a lot of yellow. Will rectify that for the future. I bought a couple of fat eighths and quarters and it turned out okay.
These were my selections

Cut into strips...

Made into fun squares!
So just that quickly I had my "homework" done.
I'm in my way to my quilt-in-a-year.

While setting up for a pic, the investigator came.

Self proclaimed king of fabric!

February-ing

a blogger I follow (jo at three stories high) does this thing that I like. I'm shamelessly copying...
Wishing life were more of an afternoon snooze

Loving how cute they look.

Noticing the gray...and kind of liking it.

Finding the hidden Qtips!

Being watched by a yeti?

Liking the surprise cat that appeared.

Whining about a paper cut....

Plotting my next project.

What -ings are happening for you?
Hoping it's all good!
